When a user is creating a campaign and has set the type to be “Promotional”, a list of all scheduled and active promotions are displayed within a drop down list.
By linking promotions to campaigns it means you can “close the loop” from an analytical point-of-view, i.e. number of contacts messaged about a promotion “versus” number of contacts who had the promotion applied.
Sending “promotional” campaigns to contacts who may become in-eligible
Due to the nature of how promotion eligibility rules operate, it is possible that contacts “move in and out” of promotion eligibility.
For some promotion scenarios this could pose a problem. A contact could receive a “promotional” campaign informing them about a promotion they’re currently eligible for but, when they attempt to claim it, they’re no longer eligible (i.e. the promotion could be for “lapse risk” customers but the contact has since become “active”).
Taking a group “snapshot”
It’s possible to mitigate the above by creating a “snapshot” of a group and use this within a campaign target group as well as within the promotion eligibility rules.
To take a “group snapshot” click on the snapshot icon in the row for the group you’d like to create a snapshot of.
Next, give the snapshot a name:
