The promotion simulator feature allows users to “mock-up” customer and transaction details and test which active or scheduled

- Go to Offer Management > Promotions > Promotion simulator
- To test promotions the user must select or create a test profile and test basket.
- If you using a test profile, enter the details that apply in the 'Test profile' section.
The purpose of a test profile is to simulate the details of a contact record however they are not contacts records. It’s possible to enter a new test profile or open an existing test profile that has been previously used.A test profile consists of the following attributes. It is not mandatory to have any test profile attributes defined in order to test which promotions would be applied to a transaction.
Attribute
Description
Name
The name for the test profile. This is mandatory if you wish to save the test profile for future use.
Groups
Optionally select which groups the test profile is a member of.
Loyalty member
Check this box to consider the test profile to be a loyalty member.
Loyalty member > Points balance
If the test profile is to be considered a loyalty member then it’s possible to specify their point balance.
Loyalty member > Enrollment date
If the test profile is to be considered a loyalty member then it’s possible to specify their enrollment date.
Loyalty member > Last offer redemption date
If the test profile is to be considered a loyalty member then it’s possible to specify the date of their last offer redemption.
Loyalty member > Last reward redemption date
If the test profile is to be considered a loyalty member then it’s possible to specify the date of their last tiered reward redemption.
Last transaction date
The data of the test profiles last transaction (before the one entered in the “test basket” section of the promotion simulator).
Last promotion applied date
The date a promotion was last applied to a transaction made by the test profile.
Home site
The home site to be used for the test profile.
Date of birth
The date of birth for the test profile.
Meets promotion application rules
To be checked if the test profile should meet the application rules of the promotion.
It’s possible to retrieve a saved test profile by clicking on the “Open test profiles” button at the bottom of the “Test profiles” panel.
- If you using a test basket, enter the details that apply in the 'Test basket' section.
The test basket feature allows the user to select an existing (or create a new) transaction that will be associated to the defined test profile. With these items in place they can test to see which active or scheduled promotions would be applied and which would be rejected.
A test basket can be made up of the following attributes.

The site where the test basket was transacted.
Transaction date
The date and time the transaction was made.
Currency
The currency of the transaction.
Source
The source of the transaction; ePos, eCommerce or On pack code

The total cost (incl. tax) of the test basket
Total cost (excl. tax)
The total cost (excl. tax) of the test basket
Line items > Product
Optional line item details associated with the test basket.
There can be multiple line items against a test basket
Line items > Quantity
Line items > Item sales (excl. tax)
Line items > item tax
Line items > Item sales (incl. tax)
- When you ready to run the simulation, click the "Simulate a transaction" button, which will make the “Simulation results” section appear.
- You will be presented with:
Transaction points awarded: the number of transactions points that have been awarded as a result of the promotions that would have been applied to the transaction.
Applied promotions: a list of the promotions that would have been applied to the transaction. This will show the promotion name, promotion type and subtype as well as the number of promotion points awarded.
Rejected promotions: a list of all promotions (name, type, subtype) and the reason it was rejected.

Rejected reasons
The list below shows all of the valid rejection reasons (e.g. why a promotion hasn’t been applied to a transaction) used within the Promotion simulator.
- The transaction didn't take place at a qualifying site number
- The transaction didn't take place at a qualifying site
- The contact making the transaction doesn't meet the customer qualification rules
- The restriction rules of the promotion have been exceeded
- The transaction basket details don't meet the transaction qualification rules of the promotion
- The transaction line item details don't meet the product identifiers within the promotion
- The products within the transaction don't meet the product qualification rules
- The contact making the transaction isn't eligible to earn points
- The promotion conflicted with another and the weighting was too low
- The promotion would have no benefit to the customer
- The transaction didn't contain any specified line items
