Horizon will help you understand your customers, so you can deliver the right message, to the right people, at the right time.
Where do I start?
If you don’t want to roam alone, continue reading and we’ll get you up and running in no time.
When you first login, you’ll be asked various questions about your business. If you aren’t faced with these questions, don’t fret, as we may have completed this setup as part of your package.
Merge tags
Fill in the information about your business. This information is used for your merge tags. Merge tags are automatically added to your email layouts, not just for legal compliance reasons, but to save you time retyping the same information.
Logo
Exactly what it says - upload your business logo or skip to the next step. We would advise you use a 200px wide image, preferably png or jpeg.
Types of contact
You need to decide the types of people you will be sending to. If you’re unsure what types to create, start off simple with ‘Customer’. You can always edit your types of contact later.
Opt-in categories
Subscribers should always be made aware of what they are signing up to. This is where opt-in categories come into play. You can create multiple opt-in categories to ensure you cover all types of emails you send. For example, a hotel with a spa on site might have two opt-in categories: ‘Spa offers’ and ‘Hotel offers’.
Once you’ve selected your opt-in categories, your setup will be complete. However before you start, you’ll want to setup custom fields and subscriber actions.
Custom fields
It’s important that you can store the information you want about your contacts. Although you have the standard fields in Horizon (date of birth, email address and so on), you can add your own custom fields. Follow this link to learn about creating custom fields.
Subscriber actions
Customers should always have the option to change their subscription. They should be allowed to subscribe, unsubscribe and change their preferences whenever they want. These pages are already set up in Horizon (just click ‘Settings’ to find them). To learn more about them and how you can edit them, follow this link.
Onto the next step
Once you have set up your account, you can dive right into Horizon. If you’re not sure where to begin or you need help later, follow these links:
